She traveled to different countries to show her talent in the world. Apart from a mathematician, Shakuntala Devi was also an author and writer. She wrote more than 10 books in her career.

She was born into a Kannada Brahmin caste and belonged to the Hinduism religion. Shakuntala Devi was 83 years old at the time of her death. The names of her mother and father are not known. As per the sources, her dad was work in a circus and her mother was a housewife. Her dad used to perform various tasks in the Circus like a tightrope walker, lion tamer, magician, and trapeze artists.

She attends a local convent school in her hometown for only three months. She also showed her arithmetic abilities at the University of Mysore at the age of 6 years old. As per the sources, Shakuntala Devi moved to London along with her father in the year 1944 to show her arithmetic talents.

 

The professional mathematician loved to wear traditional clothes. She always wore simple sarees and kurtas. She also took great care of her health. Devi used to do morning walk and yoga for her healthy body.

Human-Computer Shakuntala Devi got married to her husband “Paritosh Banerji” in the year 1960. As per the sources, Paritosh worked in Indian Administrative Service as an officer.

After some time of marriage, Shakuntala gave birth to her only daughter “Anupama Banerjee”. According to the media reports, Devi gave divorce to her hubby in the year 1979 because of some personal issues.

After that, she started living with her daughter. At present, Shakuntala Devi’s daughter lives in London, United Kingdom along with her husband “Ajay Abhay Kumar”.

 

In 1950, Shakuntala Devi visited Europe to exhibit her number-crunching abilities.After that, she gave another presentation in New York in 1976.In the year 1988, Shakuntala Devi visited teacher Arthur Jensen in the United States to get her capacities tried.As per the sources, Arthur Jensen was a teacher of brain research at the University of California, Berkeley.In 1990, in a scholastic diary, Jenson distributed his discoveries of Shakuntala Devi.He detailed that counts like the 3D square base of 61,629,875 and the seventh base of 170,859,375 were given to her to solve the issue which she tackled before Jensen could duplicate them down in his scratchpad.

Shakuntala Devi solved the 23rd base number of a 201-digit number in 5o seconds at the Southern Methodist University in 1977.The appropriate response 546,372,891 was determined by the US Bureau of Standards by the UNIVAC 1101 PC.Shakuntala Devi also opened a foundation for the education of underprivileged kids and named it “Shakuntala Devi Education Foundation Public Trust”.
